You'd probably find a great sculpt and an awesome likeness under that inch thick Chinese paint job! A great paint app can make a mediocre sculpt look awesome, but a rubbish paint app will make anything look bad.

To the people who have ordered there before, do these bambaland exclusives sell out fairly quickly or do I have some time to decide on this piece? Really digging this chief. Also, are these things basically like Hot Toys build quality? I have the Play Arts Kai Chief and was wondering whether (aside from scale) comparing this to the Play Arts version is like comparing apples to oranges? This would be my first purchase from ThreeA so any thoughts would be appreciated.

ThreeA doesn't do an edition size for the exclusive. They only put it up for preorder for a limited window. Then when the window closes that's it for exclusive ( not including eBay or other resellers who might of purchased one). The regular is usually available for some time.

As for your second question. I have the two Reach figures. The quality is comparable to Hot Toys. That said they have similar issues in that the rubber undersuit limits the "poseability" of the figures. (My Metal Gear Hot Toys and Medicom Snake figures have same issue)
The other issues that the two previous one have are : the fingers don't have a strong grip and are very delicate. The magnets that hold weapons are also a little weak . ThreeA did learn and improve from Commander Carter to Emile . In that the on/off switch for Carter was hidden in battery compartment which requires you to remove rear body armor to turn on or off (pain in the A%$) Emile now has it more accessible. So hopefully Master Chief will have a better rubber suit and magnets.

Much appreciated. I think I'll just wait for in hand reviews then to see if they fix the issues you mentioned.
