Please don't be insulted if you all already know this stuff... But I figured I would give back a little and post a quickie tutorial on how to make waste molds for transferring that pesky castilene or sculpey project in to wax gold...
In order to make a waste mold you need to have a few things.
Foam core board (or a similar rigid substitute... Carboard box will even work. HEY they aren't supposed to be pretty)
Hot glue gun
Duct Tape
There will be other needs in part 2 where we will actually transfer the piece but right now we just want to make the box mold.
First you need to loosely measure how much space you want to have around your piece. I have about 1/2 inch which should be plenty for what I need here. The object is to use as little silicone as possible and yet still get a good enough mold.
Next you will need to cut and assemble the rest of your box. I do this one side at a time. Use the glue gun to melt glue onto all relevant sides that you will attach.
