I'm not quite as plugged into this one by LBS, but it looks very impressive.
So are they going to offer customers two versions (in terms of the base specifically)--one with bats and one without them?

They don't usually have different bases for the different versions. The bases thus far have been the same across each version (except Magneto which has the magnetism effect as an add on). Usually the the more expensive versions just have more swap out parts (arms, torsos, heads, etc).

Batman simply cannot be bigger than Superman.
Blue looks great.
