this is so true because of the huge Es and prices they have put on in the last few years. Also multiple companies makng the same characters does not help.

Ah makes sense now. Oh well the market can only take so much at these new prices until people hit the bubble. Reminds me of 2008 housing bubble. It will get ugly just look at the prices of new statues and higher shipping too. Not to mention the new stuff coming out each week and they all look pretty good from every company. I still think the companies with the very low eS will do ok n the bubble.

Wasn't that the one made of PVC?

"Premium grade" PVC, whatever that means.

Was that the problem, it was made of PVC? I always thought the facial features looked a little wonky. Can't believe they set the ES at 3,000. That is insane.

It was an easy pass for me since I am not a big fan of movie statues, outside of Thor since he is in my top-5 for characters.

However, If the price keeps dropping, and eventually hits the $150-$175 range, I might need to add one just for a base template for a custom Quasar down the line. I think it would make a good conversion based on the pose.

Anywho, Jerry from PCS said that the price requested by factories increased overall because a company that makes "prime" quality products is paying an extra or something like that.
I suggest you to go read the "State of Collectibles "Thread Jerry started
Well, if Alex is right, I just don't see how the head is going to have any chance at looking like the print. A new paint app is not nearly enough to bring that portrait in line with this print. I just don't see it.

Never in a million years will I understand Sideshow's rationalization on this one. Its just so painfully obvious that producing a 2nd head, one that has the hair down and is more in line with Artgerm's print, would be HUGELY beneficial for this piece in general. Honestly, I would be willing to pay another $25-$50 to get that 2nd portrait.

Its really not, at least not if you have the EX. Every statue I purchased this last year is selling for $100-200+ over the MSRP. Classic Catwoman, Power Girl, Vampirella, Green Ivy, Batgirl, Emma Frost, etc. This is why getting an EX is more vital now than its ever been. It can be the difference between making money and losing money if you sell.

There are different grades of PVC. I really don't know a lot about it myself, but I do know that various additives are used in the creation of PVC, each with thier own unique properties. For example, anti-oxidants can be added to help decrease the rate at which the PVC degrades when exposed to things like heat, light, gases (oxygen), etc.. Some others include plasticisers, flame retardants, fillers, etc.

So I would imagine that the different grades of PVC have to do with the various additives that are used. As to what exactly defines a premium grade PVC, I have no clue. You would have to find someone that is more knowlegable on the topic than myself. I would imagine that lower grades of PVC have things like inexpensive fillers.

Classic Catwoman is under 400 and the other Catwoman EX is selling at 400 or below. Reg Catwoman has sold for under 300 numerous times. Batgirl EX seems to be under 500 now. Wonder woman EX is around 450-475. I see all of these to continue going down a bit, expecially after all the reg Wonder Woman and Batgirl ship

God, I never knew it was that low. I just had a look too see how I good it was and I saw what it is- a PF worth only near 200$. Never mind split Man of Steel opinion- that one needed to look like a human- Henry Cavill, and failed because of the harsh facial geometry. Supergirl is failing because the OVERly rounded face looks unfortunate.

Oh well, like its been said- at least Power Girl was a hit. Close enough to SG for me and more obscure too.

Supergirl should be just as much of a hit as Power Girl. I really hope Sideshow is doing more tweaks of the facial sculpt.

There are ALWAYS exceptions on eBay. Even back when Michael Turner prints were selling for $250-$350 bucks, I would occassionally get lucky with auctions that sold for a fraction of those prices and I can say the same for all of my other collecting hobbies. Thats simply the nature of the business model. A perfect example is the 2 Michael Turner prints I won a couple weeks back. I won a Signed Turner DC print for just $3.25 (Item #231807677083). Those normally sell for $100+. The 2nd print was $10.50. It was a Soulfire print that also sells in the $100 range (Item #291655918999). Both were in mint condition. I also picked up a Robert Batmen print last month for roughly 25% of its normal selling price. Again, that is eBay for you. Its simply the nature of the business model.

I will admit that Classic Catwoman is selling at a lower average price than I would have suspected at this point, but its not surprising that the regular edition of Catwoman is selling so low. There are 6000 Catwoman statues out there. Any statue that has an edition size of 4000 or higher is going to have a very hard time keeping its value in today's market and that is exactly why getting an EX is so vital today.

Sad. All I see are losses for sellers once ebay/ppal takes their cut. And these aren't the worse prices for a SS piece either!
