I've never seen this before. I've gotten stuff from paypal that basically says that they need to verify my account but I just delete those and there's never any damage to my account. I knew stuff like this was going to happen once ebay acquired paypal. All you can do now is ride it through and hope for the best. They have all your info and have better lawyers than we could ever afford. This sucks. Sorry dude.

Those messages are usually phishing for your personal info, but if it uses your full name, it's probably legit.

Yikes... This sounds like one of those "lesson learned" experiences...
I hope this works out for you.
Is there any way you might reach the seller and get to the bottom of this?
Have you called his local number??
I mean, someone obviously filed a complaint against you. There is a process to this. They took a lot of time to fill out the complaint and send it out to PayPal. I sure hope this wasn't a scam....

Yeah, paypal does suck BIG TIME when it's working against you. I re-read the thread and it looks like that guy knows the system and you will be out $$$. PayPal wants you to prove that you delivered the goods via receipt or tracking number so how can they confirm a pick up unless you had him sign some receipt or have the emails he sent expressing his interest to pick up the item in person? That's seems to be your only way out, if you saved the emails.

No offense, but how did Paypal screw up because you didn't ship with a tracking #? If you accept credit card payments, then you have to be responsible for a chargeback just as a merchant would be. End of story.
For those who say the buyers are beating the system, learn the system yourself and beat them at their own game. It's actually quite fun.

The one thing that is WRONG about this is that it takes PP over a MONTH to notify you of the problem. How can you NOT have shipped the item in that amount of time? And then they say that WE are liable for the funds. If there was a problem, they never should have authorized the payment in the first place.
