See this is a problem. Warner needs to pull a Disney/Marvel and put someone in charge that has final say. I don't know what condition that script was in but I do know Geoff Johns had worked on it. Now the script is back in the writing phase.

Now I'm not saying the movie will be bad or that the script won't be as good, I can't know that, but this film was predicated on moving forward with a script that was already in place. They need someone to call the shots if they want to keep a cohesive film universe.

They should just let Patty Jenkins take over everything.

I think what Jenkins did with Wonder Woman was fantastic, but I also think that different characters need a different approach. So I think Batman does need a different director as it should be a different film in almost every way. But I also think a "show runner" is needed when you're going to be making this many interlinked films.

Wonder Woman was mediocre so hell no to that. I'm actually glad to hear Matt Reeves is rewriting the whole script and directing it, he has done amazing things with the Planet of the Apes films and the things he's said on what he wants in a Batman movie sounds great to me so I am all for this.

I've seen The Pallbearer, Cloverfield, Let Me In, and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Based on those movies, I'll be skipping Reeves's take on Batman.

I know what you mean, but the individual components have to be good as well. Paramount hired Akiva Goldsman to be in charge of a Hasbro/Transformers/GI Joe cinematic universe. Does it really matter when the Transformers and GI Joe movies are as bad as they are? Not really.

im thinking / hoping that this has more to do with reeves wanting to make a trilogy and the original script being too much of a standalone. ALTHOUGH all movies, trilogy or not should in fact feel like a standalone movie - maybe he just wants to set the universe up a little more in the first one and the original script wouldnt allow that

reeves has also said hes going for a pretty specific noir / detective feel and maybe that first script couldnt align with that either

that said Josh is 100% correct, dc/wb desperately need a kevin feige

Ummm hell no. Sorry but WW was good but I wouldn't want her next to a batman film personally. There a lot of scenes in WW that were downright cringe.

Mat Reeves is defintley my choice for doing a stanalone batman film. He can bring that serious tone and his Noir idea with supernatural elements even and I bet he can deliver. Batman doesn't need to follow any formula other than its own.

I´m actually glad that Reeves is writing a new script and having more creative freedom than I thought he would have. He has a very solid and impressive filmography thus far and I´m confident he can do a really good movie. Really curious to see how he approaches Batman.
