Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Yah, you called it, but I'd hardly call ten months before the show procrastinating. It's funny they're concerned about the crowd being too big on preview night; pretty ridiculous that they care about the abbreviated day being overcrowded, especially since less people go that day anyways, since it is a shorter day with a much shorter panel schedule. HeroesCon, Toronto Expo or the early 2010 NYCC is looking more and more likely.

I guess in the panels that they have to voice their concerns over what comic con is doing wrong this was pretty high on the list. For the last few years there have been way too many people on preview night and I guess it makes it hard on the retailers too.

I don't have a problem not getting in on Wednesday night, but not being able to get my badge until Thursday is what sucks. That means if there's a panel I want to go to that morning, I'm outta luck.

I'd like to know how many preview night passes they had. I'm obviously not one of them. Never thought I'd have to buy my tickets 10 months in advance.

Actually - think we were lucky - we have our badges ordered and were able to get the Preview Night - we ordered them about a week ago so they went quickly

The volunteer process is a lot more hectic than they lead you to believe on the site. You sign up for a shift the day before, but last year they ran out of assignments. No, volunteers don't get in early to anything. You stand in line and wait for everything else (panels, signings, line drawings, etc.). If you get the earliest assignment at say, 7am you won't be let off until 10am (and the convention doors are open at 9:30).

Typically if you sign up to volunteer in advance, you get in to preview night. BUT they haven't released details about Volunteering in 2010. This may change as they tighten up entrance on Wednesday night.

As of 2009, if you work ONE volunteer shift, you are eligible to get a volunteer t-shirt. A lot of people don't pick up their shirts, even if they worked all 4 days. The fulfillment room is located pretty far away.
