The precedent for this is that in the Filmation cartoon Mer-Man was very blue while the toy and comic/box illustrations he was quite green.
He was based on Swamp Thing.

Yea, I already have the green Mer-Man EX. For now I'm going to just stay with that one. I passed on the Teela variant, so that means I might end up doing the same for this variant. Not sure yet.
Looking forward to more MOTU characters from TH, tho. Waiting for Sorceress and Beast Man. And I hope more to come....

Yes I agree, I love variants, but only can afford so much, I do love my Teela variant, but I can't buy them all, plus Mer man is green to me anyways, I think I like female variants better, because they usually have a new head sculpt, which is something I love as a collector, I'm really glad tweeterhead is offering swap out head sculpts on a lot of these, the Trap jaw swap out, is definitely the one I'm gonna use to display him

Yeah, if sales for the other limited variants continue to do well, Tweeterhead will probably offer it.
There are a lot of Filmation and early mini comic fans who prefer the less traditional color schemes for the characters. It's cool that most MOTU fans have the option to get the statue colors that work best for them.
If they ever get to Kobra Khan in this line, it will be a tough choice between regular green and Camo.

i think its the right call, the low es and niche color choice are the appeal here. this way folks with the original ex and reg still have something special
