You are the one missing the forest for the trees, when considering media incarnations as comic canon or when confusing Superman's life tragic events as pure willingness to kill. That is what I call blind fanboyism to its core.

Yes, Superman has killed but never as a choice. You might feel comfortable with changing the storyline for the sake of "what if?" But in doing so, you are ridiculing the status of the most beloved superhero in comic history, to a cheap caricature of today's moral standards and values.

This dilema is at the center of today's comic industry. For the last 20 years, we have seen the transvestite that it has become due to the irresponsabilty of unscrupulous and mindless writers. It is always easier to write a story where the main character is pushed to the edge only with the purpose of arousing the interest of our morbid society. The greatest writers always went back to the original story and built the plot following the initial premises. That is writing at its best and not the mediocre attempts we see today.
