If you're patient, you could probably get a Vol #1 at around cover price. I've seen Vol #2 sell for around $35 on more than one occasion. As great as this read is, people still tend to get drawn to the classic Marvel titles. Also, I'm convinvced these will eventually return to print with new covers. There's no reason not to reprint them. Many of the Masterworks were reprinted too, even the variant covers. Nothing is sacred... lol

Even I'm intrigued, and I've never really had an interest in the Marvel monsters. Hmm...

May have to track these down. Why do you say skip Vol. 3? Did story quality go down that much?

Come on, don't tell me we are getting worked up over reprinting book covers. They aren't even numbered. Who cares. It's not a statue.

On the most part, volume 3 reprints two black and white Dracula magazine series which were published in the 70s. However, they don't have any real tie to the comic series as the stories generally took place either before the comic series began or after it ended. In essence, it's a bunch of single stories produced by many different writers and artists. The timelines are all over the place. There's no real flow from issue to issue like the comic series. I got spoiled with the Wolfman/Colan run.

Don't get me wrong. Many of the stories in volume 3 are fun -- just nowhere near as enetertaining as the Wolfman run. The only reason I read through it was because I really enjoyed Dracula. If you're a Batman fan, it's like reading a bunch of "Tales of the Dark Knight" issues. While there were some decent stories in Volume 3, there certainly were quite a few clunckers, unlike the Tomb series which was a incredibly consistent book. It's why the magazines eventually got cancelled -- low sales.

Yes. Including some appearances in other books e.g., Werewolf by Night. And, the Giant Size specials, etc

Actually the original variant or "gold frame" covers to the Marvel Masterworks were supposed to have a specific run - the number located on the back of the book - If RS is right and they reprinted those then it's not right at all...

IF they did reprint them, you can still tell by looking in the front cover.
