Batman The Dark Knight Returns

my all time favourite statue, do you have any memories of working on this one?

One of the best batman statues ever! It's my personal favorite for sure. Apart from WP's new ultra limited bronze DK, this is the best DK out there.

This was the first really stylized comic piece I ever did, so there was a learning curve to be able to move away from realism and just try to portray Miller's particular aesthetic. It was a challenge, but a lot of fun.

I worked directly with Frank Miller while the piece was in progress, and I found him to be incredibly nice and generous. Even though this is his baby, he allowed me freedom with the work and was very respectful of my part in sculpting his design. Good guy.

William, was it Miller that designed it (pose, etc.)?

William is it difficult to switch between real and stylized?? Which one is easier to sculpt??

I always thought Hellboy was a very stylized character

Now it's easy to switch styles, but it took a little while to get comfortable.

Hellboy is very stylized, and I thought I would have a hard time sculpting Mignola's style, but in reality I found it to be one of the easiest things I have ever done.
