Matt wagner's Trinity & Jill Thompson's wonder woman true amazon
Blown away by true amazon. Even though it's basically an elseworlds tale, it really does show you Diana in a different light. Stunning artwork & I've always wanted her Art of War statue but now I want it even more!

I own but haven't read True Amazon yet. Thanks for this post as I'll now put it on my nightstand!

This book tried to be the ultimate Justice League adventure. However, in the end, it ultimately felt more like a failed attempt to be more clever than everything else being produced at the time in comics. It felt drawn out, convoluted, at times awfully unclear and overreaching, and well, not all that entertaining. While it was nice to see Alex Ross paints, even if only over Doug Braithwaite's pencils, it didn't really feel like authentic Ross. I much prefer his personal artistic vision.

Makes for a great Absolute Edition, not to mention a great line of action figures by DCD (only topped by Blackest Night IMO)

I imagine the action figures look fabulous, and the larger format likely enhances Ross' paints too. Sadly, the storyline didn't hit enough marks for me.

The Fade Out Volume 1 - by Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips - 8/10
- Collects Image Comics issues 1-4
Set in 1948 Hollywood. A murder mystery. I enjoyed it. It's nice to read non-superhero books from time to time. And, you simply cannot go wrong with Brubaker at the helm. I'm looking forward to reading the remaining 8 issues.

An autobiographical account of one of Paul Dini's darkest periods told beautifully yet hauntingly by Dini using Batman characters & (as usual) amazing art by Eduardo Risso

I loved this book. I believe the correct spelling though is "Dark Night" in reference to the night of Dini's terrible real life ordeal.
This is a book every one should read. Truly terrifying and bravely written.

I agree: these four issues were a very strong start. I loved the set-up, and the characterizations were excellent. Like you, I need to get around to finishing the series...

iZombie Volume 1: "Dead to the world" - by Chris Roberson and Michael Alldred - 7/10
- Collects DC Comic Vertigo issues 1-5
The CW TV show is based on this comics series. However, the setting, origin, general theme and tone for the comics is quite different than the one set on the TV show. It was an interesting read, sometimes fun, but not captivating enough to compel me to quickly look up volume two. Perhaps at some later date, if I run out of new books to read, I might follow-up.
