First impressions, it is quite good if a bit plastic, and not quite as dark
n’ dirty as anticipated. Once R2’s lights are switched on, R2 looks kind of cool. Too bad
he fails to make any sounds.

It's decent enough for R2. I was so disappointed that Gentle Giant wasn't producing a 1/6 scale R2 that when Sideshow announced this one I was happy. At least now I have a 1/6 scale R2 in my collection.

X-Wing pilot Luke will fill in the hole.

While my (statue) collection is tiny compared to many on this board, I have become used to the heavy cast resin statue’s that ooze quality, and R2-D2 is light-weight by comparison. The paint job is ok, I can see some faults (see photo of blue area with silver paint near R2‘s main blue/red light).

Once R2’s lights are switched on, R2 looks kind of cool. Too bad he fails to make any sounds. It would have so much more impressive if Sideshow has made R2’s rotating head section out of real metal.

Try spending $750 for a C-3PO/R2-D2 PF and discover that R2-D2 is just hollow plastic.

Yep but I turned around and sold it for what I paid for it so I broke even... Enough people want a 1/4 scale statue of them that it seems to be holding it's price for now... I just didn't like the fact that SS was charging so much for something that probably only cost them $50 to make. That PF shouldn't of cost more then $350 tops given it wasn't sculpted. C-3PO was just a plastic body they poured resin into to give it weight and R2 was hollow plastic.
