HELLBOY clay sketch

Another loose work. For years I have wanted to sculpt this guy and finally got around to it. Very quick work and a ton of fun. I was unsure if I would find the art difficult to translate, but actually it was one of the easiest renditions of 2-D art I have ever done. I'll definitely revisit Mignola's HELLBOY again in the future.

Like the Cap and Bat busts, i find here too that the rougher the piece the more I like it. There's something really alive about seeing the strokes and textures that stem from the actual creation, almost like a charcoal drawing or oil painting.

The "rough cut" style really works well for Hellboy. Great looking piece! Congrats.

I love it. You made him look ancient. Looks like a piece of art.

Looks great!

I wonder what other characters would also really suit the rough cut. Perhaps a monstrous Hulk?
