I suspect it is mainly because animals evoke a more "neutral" reaction than a human form.

Please do not take this as some kind of attack. Only genuine conversation.

Nope. None. Go check what are considered the most admired statues sculpted by men. You can barely find any of them being an animal. Is it a coincidence or Forps is ONCE AGAIN right? You are talking about "decorative" items here vs Prime1 or ECC's having glass eyes etc.

It is spooky and quirky to have animals in your house. PERIOD.

Someone can assume that these overseas collectors having huge Dino-collections and animals collection, may also have a tiger there (taxidermy ofc). Or a deer's head on a wall or a bison's one.

In US i can't fathom a New Yorker collecting animal-stuff and a Life size Dino, not due to their size but due to his mentality. I can easily imagine someone living in Texas or Florida though, loving Dino-stuff or animal-related stuff.

I can write an essay and go deep into human psychology, art, children indoctrination (why Texans or a guy in Florida can collect animal stuff and may love them but a New Yorker doesn't) or why Chinese collectors amass huge Dino and animal collections (what is the intrinsic reason for doing so) but as i said earlier, let's end it here. It is also strange that these Dino guys stepped in HELLBOY'S thread to derail it. It reminds me of anime fans. Saying to them that collecting anime statues of little g..(i'm going to throw up) is "weird", makes them furious.

You know why?

Because they know that it is INDEED weird for a grown up man to collect anime stuff.

They know it and i know it.

The same applies to collecting Dinos or animals in general and have them inside your house. It is weird. They know it and i know it and this is why they get furious while i don't care.

Equating anime with the first ever recorded form of art, as well as the most lasting and most widespread.
To them claim "having animals inside the house is weird" when the vast majority of people on the planet, across every culture, age, and time period in recorded history had/have multiple forms of animal representation in their houses.

The perfect closure to this surreal Off Topic.

Whatever. You don't seem to get what i'm saying. So it is futile to continue. It reminds me of Jordan vs Lebron debates. Boomers and guys >35y old are impossible to argue with. Jordan was their idol and it is IMPOSSIBLE to make them change their opinion. Anime fans are the same, Dino maniacs the same.

Forps is like Einstein. He questions everything and everyone (eg Newton), he is ready to change his opinion, to incorporate new ideas in his way of thinking etc. Going back to Jordan vs Lebron debate, i was too a Jordan fan but i changed my opinion (i've detailed why).

99.9999% of people don't have the ability to change an opinion, view, anything.

This is why you are you and Forps is Forps.

Back to the topic, this Hellboy 1/3 is an abomination (likeness, mixed media, posture, lack of details etc). ECC is on a DOWNWARD PATH, it is rather obvious her sole focus is Dino cr.p nowadays.

The quality of her non-Dino stuff is falling (Faun products were a disaster), her new offers are shockingly bad (Hellboy LSB, resin when other companies offer silicone, at least make it translucent resin, this 1/3 is a joke, it looks like a HCG product).

I also have my doubts regarding her Dino line. The new 1/1 is going to be the last piece making bank for ECC. After that, what? I can't see even Chinese collectors having the interest to keep collecting Dino stuff, they already got plenty along with other weird animals looking like taxidermy ones.

I am sceptical about Dino lines in general. I can't see them being cash cows long-term.

I can officially exclude ECC from my beloved companies. The last 2-3y were a disaster with atrocious new pieces and TRASH QUALITY of the final product.

Forps NEVER sugarcoats and this is why the whole community and companies fiercely read my posts. And collectors respect my honesty.

I loved ECC but i can't follow her anymore and i hate the subpar (non-Dino) stuff she delivers nowadays.

Perhaps, you're not exactly easy to follow afterall.

One second you're discussing general art while displaying a disconcerting level of ignorance, the second later you're talking about anime and.. taxidermy?

You don't see the obvious parallels between taxidermy and collecting life-size silicone humans in spandex suits with glass eyes and punched hair..

For some inexplicable logic Marvel/DC collectors are cool and Jurassic Park collectors are losers..

You consider super-heroes art, but not Oscar-winning movie monsters because they're "animals"..

You compare yourself to Einstein and Newton while discussing, in a place about pop culture toys, about Lebron vs Jordan like the most braindead individual in an american pub..

You might be the single most bizarre individual I've ever personally engaged with. And not only in my real personal life but on the entirety of the Internet as well.. and this from someone who had exchanges with extreme leftists identifying as actual wolves.

Forps, your conception of what can be considered art is woefully myopic. C'mon man, expand your horizons a bit!

Even though I have not been interested in any of their JP YET I consider it great because of what other niche things the success could allow.
I feel like that's just the way they roll. It's not a business set on making a huge profit and with Steves wife doing a majority of the sculpting these days, they sure save thousands of dollars on having to hire sculptors or painters. The biggest key for them seems to just be licensing costs.

JP could potentially be the most expensive license ECC has ever had?, so they probably feel the need to make a lot of products to justify that cost. For such a small company, I think this is the way to go about it, but I know a lot of folks are getting some JP fatigue. I'm just glad they are staying active.

Did you wind up buying the Faun maquette? I also thought the bust was a pretty big miss, but I dig the maquette.
