Weta Kong Chess

Just got my Weta Kong chess set from Fireside today. #0167/1500. Haven't heard much buzz about this set, but it really impressed me at SDCC last year and I have been hoping for a chance to pick it up at one point--and Bob at Fireside made me an offer I couldn't refuse. It's quite heavy!! I have always wanted a really solid high quality chess set, and now I have one. The pieces store themselves inside, protected by thick gray foam padding. The detail on the base is great, with Skull Island on one side and 1930's New York on the other. Really an underrated and overlooked addition to the Kong lineup. I recommend it to all fans of King Kong and/or chess--especially if you can pick it up at a discount like I did!!!

More pieces?!? That's why I got such a good deal! I got ripped off!! That explains why I was having such a hard time playing...

(Actually, I just didn't get them all out for the picture. They're all in there, I promise!)

Sure! I'll try to get some more pics in the next day or two. It's a great set, and I was able to pick it up for less than $250. Well worth it, IMO.

Been looking for a interesting chess set for awhile and after seeing the photos you posted I ordered one from Fireside last night. Let you know what I think when it arrives.

I received the Kong Chess set yesterday. When I picked up the box by the back door I thought Kong must still be in it! When you set this baby down it ain't moving anywhere.

Fireside shipped the set out fast and it arrived in good condition. Beautiful detail on the chess board, even my wife likes it. One of the nicest chess sets I have seen.
