It's potentially a great franchise yet in the worst hands. They'll likely hire a zero experience GM who'll hire a zero experience coach and the cycle of nonsense will continue. I hope not though... The NHL is far better off with a great Leafs team.

the bengals did make a couple superbowls and are good again. they did have 15 years without a winning season but those 2 superbowl appearances kept them off the list i am sure

I don't know what the Minnesota Twins are doing on that list. It's been a while since they won a world series, true (1991) but they are competative every year and go to the playoffs on a fairly regular basis without much of a payroll. There are definitely worse out there IMO.

Arizona Cardinal's, how in the hell did they get a NEW Fantastic Stadium, they have sucked for year's, and lot's of them, do they try to lose games or what!!
Pirates the same thing, New Stadium and they suck, flat out.
And some of those NASCAR driver's, how the hell do they keep their job's, some haven't Won a race in nine or ten season's, or even finish in the Top Twenty at the end of the Season, WTF!
Pro-Basketball, I don't even watch since the early Eighties, just watch the last five minutes, and you've seen enough.
Hockey seem's to be the only sport where a player actually earn's their money, but Front offices still can't pick talent right in front of them.
Atlanta, Columbus, Phoenix, Florida was giftwrapped a Stanley Cup a few year's back, they suck now.
Aren't the Phillies the Worst (losingest) Team/Franchise of All-Time.

I could not agree more.

Given all the corruption in baseball and the idea that the MLB is generally about three (Yankess, Red Sox, and Braves, with another sometimes squeaking in by dumb luck), not to mention the sheer boredom of it all, I'm amazed at how this remains America's favorite sport to watch.

You'll never find more whiny millionnaires this side of Paris Hilton.

I'm pretty sure baseball has actually slipped to 3, I know it is behind the NFL.

Fans might poll the NFL over the MLB (if they're sane), however, I don't think the NFL is watched more. In all fairness, how can we compare following a team for 16 games and another for 162? There seems to be a greater investment of time in following a MLB team over a given year.

I think its players and broadcast rights costs still rank the most expensive overall, do they not?
