Dodged a bullet! Water is a -----.
We had a major hail storm yesterday. I was caught in it just as I turned the corner to my street. Fortunate no damage to my car. Lasted a few minutes and totally decimated our trees and bushes.
Around 10:00 as I was getting ready to go to bed I went downstairs to put something away and damn if we didn't have water in our basement. One of our egress Windows must have clogged up from hail and the rain must have come through the window. Most of it was in the unfinished area of the basement but some seeped into the man cave carpet. Scrambled for our shopvac and ran to Walmart for fans.
I am so glad I put all my statues and boxes on raised shelves. No damage to any boxes or statues. Had to finagle all the shelves in the unfinished section to vacuum up any water under the shelving units. And now got the fans running to get water to dry up the carpet in the man cave.

Dodged a bullet indeed! Years back I had a slow leak coming from the bathtub into a closet where I used to store my Bowen boxes. I went in there one day and noticed dampness on the carpet, I immediately freaked out and took everything out of the closet. Luckily I have all my boxes bagged so none of them got wet. It was not a big thing but had I not checked when I did and not bagged the boxes I would have wound up with a pile of mushy cardboard.

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

Does your home owner's insurance cover water damage? I had a similar experience. New carpet, pump, trim, drywall. All that moisture is still in the wall, which creates mold. I ended up gutting my basement and having some left over cash for more statues.

It does but this wouldn't cover my deductible. Although a big headache, nothing that has drywall was damaged.
