You should walk to work. Ten miles a week does the body good.
Damn... that's some serious gas money not being spent. You're anti-California.

Very Fustrating, with Prices getting steeper and Tickets and Accommodations getting more difficult to acquire every year, it makes me wonder if this is going to be the Last Comic con I attend

The tickets went from $70 to $175 from 2011-2012. I imagine the tickets are going to be $200 for sure, but probably $250 for 2013. We want to discourage you from coming. That kills me every time.... We are a non profit,.... ok so where did the extra $105 go per person when nothing else was added??? Don't be fooled the people who work for non profits make a crap load of money in salaries.

This is going to be my first time, and possibly my last... I said I always wanted to go once.... I want the experience... but you are correct, it is going to be an expensive trip and I didnt even buy anything yet....
Hotel room, tickets, airfare.... about 1200.00, and i didnt even get there yet....
That being said, I really have a lot of fun at the smaller cons...
EDIT: Exact costs
Hotel: Checking in on Wednesday, check out on Monday = 634.00
Airfare: From Milwaukee to SD = 432.00
Ticket: Thursday-Sunday w/ Preview night = 175.00
Grand total: = $1241.00
That is not even the spending money at the show or food and drink..... WOW....

I hear and share your pain because for me as an overseas attendee, my airfares alone cost around $1800.00 with 20 hours of flying time!
Thankfully, this time around (if it all works out), my airfares and accommodation are covered
