Best of luck to those of you who are out of work or looking for work or face difficult working conditions. May the new year be better for you.

NDI, however not for much longer. The plant I work for is shutting down after being open since 1940. Now I'm looking into a career change, federal prison gaurd, or GM.

I'm an architectural photographer. Its a pretty unique job, but I guess like all jobs it has both its ups and downs. One of the main perks is the sheer amount of time off. I only work around 80-90 days a year, during the months of April to mid-September. The rest of the year (October to April) I have off entirely. I have a lot of hobbies, including shooting pictures for myself, so I love having so much free time. I also like that every job is different. New locations, new challenges, etc. It keeps things fresh. Most of all, I just love being my own boss. I held some pretty crappy jobs in the past and had some bosses that I just wanted to strangle. It definitely makes you appreciate working on your own.
One of the downsides is all the airline travel. I actually used to love that aspect to the job but after 9/11....well, now its just a total pain in the a*s. I definitely prefer jobs that I can drive to now. Unfortunately, those are few and far between. I do get a lot of airline miles but I would rather just forgo the airline travel altogether.
