Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Just started reading the entire Sherlock Holmes stories...for the first time. I actually started with A study in Scarlet, but Im looking forward to some of the others. I want to read them in order despite what people say about Doyle's writing ability in the beginning.

Next Ill start with the wheel in time series since I've never read it (I know I know) or can't remember reading it.

Finishing up "Christine," then moving on to "Carrie." On a bit of a Stephen King kick.

Working on The Law of Nines right now with The Lost Symbol on deck. May tackle the entire Dune series after that. I haven't actually read a "real" book in the 2 years since I have owned my Kindle. If you love to read the Kindle is awesome! I'm walking around with a library of 200 books that I've got to get through and it seems that every time I finish one I add two others.

A backlog of 40-some digital comics going back to Mar. '09.

Mostly Dark Reign titles.

Re: Pillars of the Earth

Still working through it (Wasn't able to read it for a while but back on it).
At about 450 pages and it has gotten better. It took the better part of 250 pages to actually get interesting.

One thing that I noticed and find kinda stupid/annoying is this authors obsession with degrading women/anomosity towards women and how he gets too into it and sex scenes, like I am reading a dirty article out of a Hustler magazine. In one rape scene in the book it comes across like the author is glorifying it. It is one thing to set the tone of how men and women are viewed unequal during a certain period of time (this takes place in the middle-ages), but he takes to to a point that it actually takes you out of the novel and you find yourself saying "what is this authors damage?". It stands out enough that it kinda hurts the book overall IMO.

I have heard alot of fantastic things about this book, so I will continue on to the very end.

My next book on deck is a pretty hardcopy of War and Peace I just picked up..yay!

I had a hard time with that in American Gods. Pulled me out of the story and I couldn't finish it.
