I don't understand why so many people like it. Makes me wonder if those people simply like every comic movie.
I had fun watching it, it's a decent popcorn movie with some cheesy humor and fun action scenes... yeah it's not going to win any awards and it wasn't as good as a Marvel made movie but It was still better then almost anything DC has put out in the last 4-5 years...

I had more fun watching Venom then I did Wonder Woman... Venom never took itself seriously unlike Wonder Woman were they were trying to be all dramatic with a meh story and really lame villain

Its not lol. When I think "1" its turn off or leave after a few minutes. 2 or 3 would be like "Blair Witch" homemade cam film without a good story I guess my scale needs adjusting

I always consider 5 mediocre. if a movie seemed like a chore to sit through 4 and 3. If it felt like I was being punished 1 and 2
If I was slightly entertained, and had nothing to do for 2 hours or so 6.
7 or 8 it has to be entertaining, interesting, engage me somehow emotionally etc etc. A 7 or 8 means my mind was focused on the movie and not what I could be or SHOULD be doing instead.
9 or 10 is like groundbreaking sh!t only reserved for great films, something mindblowing when I first saw them and I will gladly watch over and over again. 9 or 10 is so rare especially these days.

Call my crazy, but I actually preferred Raimis Venom, the personality sense, and even Topher's insanity and obsession with the symbiote arc.

This movie was just flat all around, and I got sick of hearing Venom speak after about 20 minutes.

I went into this movie with low expectations due to all the reviews so that might of help me enjoy it more... The Asian market really loved this movie, with $852 million there will defiantly be a sequel.

I saw a comment made by Todd McFarlane and he said the one good thing they got right about the current Venom movie is his size

I haven’t seen the Venom film yet but Tooher’s portrayal in Spider-Man 3 was helped by his motivation to hate both Peter Parker and Spider-Man, using the character’s actual origin for his motivation. My biggest problem with so many comic book movies is their creators’ desire to move away from the actual comic book source material that made popular comic book characters so popular.

You nailed it all the way down the line.
I was unsure about watching this I didn't watch it in the theater so I rented it on Prime and after twenty minutes was already regretting it.
