Chloe is such an annoying character that has no purpose in the Superman universe...if Pete was let go, then they could let Chloe go too. All you need is Clark, Lana & Lois. Chloe is a 5th wheel & there's no room for the 5th wheel.

i think the main reason they kept her alive is to help CK solve all of the mysteries...yeah, he has no problem when it comes to the brawn department, but her investigative skills do come in handy quite often
i am really curious to see how Lois takes her place as the reporter...i think it will probably be as a result of Chloe dying & Lois wanting to solve the murder & then she gets bitten by the reporter *bug*
I just watched it & man...What a great episode! Brainiac rules in all his evil glory! & you did see a hint of Zod! I bet J-storm wishes Clark were holding Chloe's corpse in this scene.
