The Rock

Well, The Rock has another movie coming out ..."DOOM".

Action Movie stars are drying up pretty fast. Outside of maybe Vin Diesel, there really isn't an all around action guy out there ( like Stallone, or Arnold...who did they pass the torch too?)...

What do you guys think of him? With Hollywood really lacking an action hero for this generation, does the Rock fit the bill.

Here is a list of films he has been in..

Longshot (2000) <small role>
The Mummy Returns (2001)
The Scorpion King (2002)
The Rundown (2003)
Walking Tall (2004)
Be Cool (2005)
Doom (2005)

7 more movies either in post production, or announced including "Spy Hunter", and "Johny Bravo"

What are YOUR thoughts?

His best acting work was in the WWE. Out of those movies, I've only seen the Mummy returns & the Scorpion King. He's not bad...but nothing special either.

I think he has been in a few decent movies but people are judging him more on his wrestling career and not giving him a shot... I think he will be a great actor.

I think he can be in a movie with a pre-made audience (Doom, Bravo) but he can't open am ovie on his own. See Walking Tall, or better yet, don't.

Well said, most action stars are not great actors.See: Stallone or Schwarzenegger. If the Rock would have gone straight into acting it may have been easier for him to be accepted as an actor. He will probably have a hard time breaking free from the wrestler stereotype.Although Jesse did it.

He has not been picky enough about the scripts he selects.

I have not seen Longshot or Doom yet, but I've seen all the others. Scorpion King would have been received much better without all the hype. Rundown was a good adventure flick.

I thought he gave a really good performance in Walking Tall, but then again, who really asked for a remake of this film? I only saw it because it was the movie on the plane.

He got to showcase a whole other side of his range in Be Cool.

None of these movies had scripts or plots that I would deem "special" and I expect Doom will be another fad-based movie.

I agree. Though Rundown was a fun flick I have that. Walking Tall they could have used anyone but he was ok. And I think Scorpion King sucked for every possible reason but him. It be nice to see him in another Rundown type of movie. Nothing like someone stated with a premade audience already and he's just muscle filler.
