Rockin' Jelly Bean Invisible Woman statue review

The video portion of this was recorded prior to the Scarlet Witch review, so it's still got a few minor issues that I later fixed up.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62vLHiObyq0 < There's a link to the video, I suggest watching it in 720p. Feel free to subscribe if you like it!

Let's start off with the packaging. When I popped this out of the shipping box, I thought it was damn stylish. If you've followed my reviews for a bit, you'd notice I usually don't post box shots, but this one rules. It's colourful and lets you open it up, so you can take a peek at the lady before you crack it open.

Once I opened her up, the first thing I noticed? She looks like Laurie from That 70's Show. The second thing? She's even more ridiculous looking in person than the promo shots. Now, I don't mean that as a bad thing. People complained that she wasn't up to the super hero ideal, but let's face it, this is about equally as over the top as the 6 foot amazon looking bodybuilders with gigantic natural breasts that fill modern comics.

The reality of it is she's meant to capture a certain style of woman, and I think she does a fine job of it. The sculpting is top notch. She's got a big round booty and bosom going on, she's in a somewhat sultry pose, but not trashy. The ssshh expression adds to that. The hair and face are gorgeous. The paint is bright and vibrant, just like it should be.

That's not to say there aren't problems with this piece. While I like the pose, the way her back is bent, it looks a little awkward. If you look at the base, you'll probably notice it's super stylish, showing the Fantastic Four logo, her name, and the company name. But what you won't notice at first is the lack of pegs. You can pose her how you want, it's just not very stable. Get some museum putty to secure it or you're going to run into problems. Here's the final shot I'm sure you've been dying to see, you pervs.

Damnnnnn son. The painted panty lines are sure to be a hit, hope they keep that up with the rest of the releases.

4/5. Not for everyone, but it's a unique style and they nailed it for a first release.

Thanks for a great review, Dr_Teng. I've been quietly coveting (ok, drooling over) this statue since she was sneaked. Can I ask where you bought her and did you get any sort of deal? Does she feel solid like a statue, or plastic-y? Finally, does she work with your more traditional pieces or is she displayed best alone?

I preordered her from HLJ, I order a lot of my import stuff from them. Unfortunately, she's been long sold out there, but you might have luck at some local stores.

She's light, but she feels solid. If you have any good quality anime statues, it's like that. It doesn't feel cheap by any means.

I have a few areas that have some anime characters and she works great there. I wouldn't display her with say, Marvel comiquettes or the Women of DC stuff simply because those are all consistent styles whereas she'd be a bit of a loner. Now, if it gets to the point where you could mix a few of these in, that might work.

I've never seen these before and quite like them. Were there any others made in this range?

As far as comic characters, I think they only ever made a Mystique besides this one.
