Bowen Galactus FS paint discoloration

I have a Bowen Galactus FS statue, and it has what looks to be a dark discoloration on several parts of its helmet. It doesn't look uniform because the point at the top of his helmet is two different colors. Is this normal? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Mine did not look like that when I got it. I am sure you tried, but did you attempt to wipe the discoloration off? It looks like dust / debris, not a color wash.

Try to wipe it with a damp cloth and see if it comes off. That would do the trick if it is some sort of muck.

I tried to wipe it off with a damp cloth with no results. It's supposed to be a new, never displayed statue, and I was wondering if all of them look like this.

If it is not grime, there can only be two things. Some water damage (humidity in storage) or the paint app wasn't properly done. If it is noticeable or looks bad from a distance, I would recommend you to paint it over with some matching paint (you can find it at any craft store). Other than that, there is no much you can do; unless you want to fully repaint it.

I would love to know what the matching paint might be.
My bust took a tumble and the horns broke. I've fixed them but can't find the right paint to finish the job. It isn't Humbrol 51 Met.

Hard to tell. It is a matter of trial and error.

When I have to do small fixes like that, I carry a picture in my phone of the affected area, and try to match it with the multiple paint options at the store. I normally end up buying a few (I already have a big collection of acrylic paints) to try them out. Some times, it takes a combination of various colors to do the trick.

Just don't forget that most paint gets lighter after drying up. So choose colors that seem a little darker and brighter than the original. Good luck.

I just went thru a bunch of Galactus threads (not all of them but he came out back in 2009) in the Bowen section. Couldnt find any similar complaints.

Thanks JP. I'll stay on the hunt. The colours on a screen when you search online look nothing like the reality.
