Places to visit on the West Coast

Hey
I need a bit of help.
I am planning a trip down the west coast of the USA and was after ideas where to go and information.

I wanna try+include

Yosemite
San Fran
LA
Vegas/grand canyon
Anaheim
San Diego

and some how finish up in Houston.

I haven't been able to find any decent websites or info on why to stay or what there is to do. And the best way to travel around other than driving.

Whats buses+trains like??

Also i would like to see some of the history of the states esp American civial war+native american history. Any museums or reservations (do they still exist??)

Any info would be great esp websites and travelling details

well we do not have the trains like europe unfortunatly. Our train system on the west coast is well sad. you can get around still but not easily. in the US we drive.

For american civil war you really need to be in the south or east coast to see a lot of that. California did not see much civil war action. Though alcatraz the prison was originally a civil war fort and there is a bit of info there.

There are a bunch of musuems with native american history and the west as well. In San Diego we have some reservations still but they all have casinos now and really no longer seem native so to speak. We have some good musuems though for this stuff.

all places on your list have some really cool stuff to see in each one though. I would also check the cities main web sites as well there are a ton of links on the SD one to the zoo and the midway carrier musuem etc.

Unfortunately CK is right. There is not alot of Civil war sites here on the West Coast. There are some forts and trading posts, as well as some WW1 and 2 sites but they are really spead apart in distance. There are alot of natural attractions.....as mentioned.

Yosemite is one of them....
There is the Redwood forest
there are several state cave and cavern attractions.
Central Oregon as well as Northern Washington feature many volcanic attractions as well as Native American museums
The Pacific Ocean is it's own thing of beauty, and many attractions all up and down the coast lines of Washington, Oregon, and California.
I suppose it just all depends on what your interested in.

Hope this helps some.......
