Arrow Maleficent 2

Looks like Disney is planning a sequel.

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

I suspect Tron's merchandising closes the gap in profit. Did Maleficent have any merch besides the obvious t-shirt or poster?

Maleficent pushes the entire Disney princess brand. It doesn't need anything directly related.

Yep, dolls and pop vinyl to name a few.

But everyone seems to think that Disney makes all the money between the movie budget and the gross receipts. If the box office is $400 M, some of that money goes to the theatres. Some of that money goes to the distributor. And I bet some of these stars (at least the big names) are getting a percentage of the gross. So ultimately how much did Disney make on Tron Legacy? I'm sure it's not $400 M - $170 M or $230 M.

That seems like a stretch to me. By that logic you could argue Tron pushes all of the video games in development at Disney.

Again, the same applies to any film. Apply that same argument to Maleficent's $758 million in box office return.

Not when the two movies have almost the same budget and one brings in twice the gross of the other.

I guess that's a good point. Was focusing on the return numbers.
