Yes, people even upload the videos to YouTube. Some use their statues for gun practice.

It's a common request from Sideshow to destroy a piece before they'll ship a replacement.
And yes, I posted a video where I destroyed a defective Thanos EX head. The only video I've done that included my wife and son, as they couldn't believe that I was taking a hammer and chisel to part of a statue.

I highly recommend wearing protective eye wear. I had to smash a JSC spiderman comiquette head and a piece flew up and almost took my eye out. And yes it is painful to have to destroy all that hard work

Another option is to wrap the statue in a towel before taking a hammer to it. That keeps the pieces contained.

This is what I've done in the past
It is always sad to open the towel and see the pieces.
A couple of times, I've opened it up and barely anything is broken. Polystone is pretty tough when it is thick.

Oddly enough, I've never had to destroy any of the Sideshow pieces to get a replacement--and I've had a ton need replacing. I've either had to ship the statue/part back, or I've kept the part and they've never requested I destroy it.

Years ago, I worked at a bookstore that had a comic rack. Returns were done by stripping off the front cover and throwing away the rest of the book. The first week that I worked there, I couldn't bring myself to destroy a comic book. By the second week, it was old hat.
