Great start to the review!
This one was a heartbreaker.
There's a whole lot of beauty on display, and the EX switchouts (mainly the extra sword and shield) function extraordinarily well, radically changing the theme of it, while still looking absolutely appropriate to the basic figure pose in either configuration.
But you're much more forgiving than I could be.
I'm greatly disappointed for the decisions that were made with this. Now, seeing the vid and hearing of the consistency in appearance across several samples, I've got zero regrets cancelling it just before it shipped.
Unfortunately, unlike the Superman which was clearly compromised by rushed factory work and no QC, it was almost certainly an executive decision that was responsible for the seam- likely a cost saver by only having one portrait cast and painted rather than two. Even in a best case it was likely to be noticeable. But with tolerances so tight, any tiny bit off and you not only get a seam, but a woefully obvious gaping gash.
To fix this properly would require not just another run, but a whole retooling- from the box to the molds. And since the factory isn't to blame, Chad would be on the hook for considerably more expense than the Supe redo.
Like I said, a real heartbreaker all around.
