What do you guys think?

Left half of the pic is from last months New Avengers by David Mack and the right half is from Gen13 - Ordinary Heroes by Adam Hughes from 12 years ago.
Is the resemblance just a coincidence or is Mack a hack?
Don't know much about David Mack, never bothered to read his work but this is cheap.

These are just too similar for this to be a coincidence.

Well some artists do that. I learned at the Kubert School one of my teachers, Hy Eisman artist of the news paper Strip "Dondi" would save copies of his art and if he was strapped for time, he'd go through his years of art, copy it via xerox and paste the images into each panel, since he did do both the art and writting the story.

This looks like it defitintly could be a rip off.

I remember that Rob Liefeld was known for ripping off other peoples artwork.

Yeah, but there's a big difference between re-using your own work, and ripping off somebody elses...

It actually amazes me that any comic artist would ever try to do this. I mean they're always going to be spotted and caught out, and subsequentially publically embarrassed by doing such a thing. I mean, haven't these guys met comic fans? You'd have better luck dressing as a streak and walking through a lion reserve than you would getting something like this past every comic fan out there...

Mack is fairly notorious for swiping:

The original Newsarama article is off-line, is it archived somewhere else? I'd like to read it as I am a fan of Mack but seeing the comparison and his response is odd.
