Do You Sell Statues To Pay For New Statues
Have you guys or do you ever sell a statue to pay for another statue?
I ask because I am in a dilema right now. I have a few smaller statues that I am thinking about selling to help pay for some new stuff.
For example I have the SOTA Delta Red Cammy, that I am thinking of selling. I have never sold one of my statues before, so the collector inside me is screaming "DONT SELL"
Any advice from personal experience.

I sell statues for the following reasons:
1) Space. I do not see the point of keeping statues in their boxes, in a cupboard, if I do not have room to display them.
2)If I'm only so-so about a statue (if I'm considering selling it so that I can replace it with another statue then I am only so-so!) then I may as well replace it with another one that I love to bits and look at all the time.
3) Collector mentality is a stupid stupid thing and it will make you miserable at some point - either because you run out of money, run out of space, will never be able to afford an item that the collector inside you says that you must have, or you'll miss out on getting one in a series (like Oddball and his Battle Droids) and go on a mad rampage.

If you're in this hobby for the long term, selling statues, at least occasionally, becomes a must. It makes little sense to keep everything. While collections can continuously grow, the amount of display space stays the same. Thanks goodness there a decent secondary market around to unload stuff.

How many statues have you gotten rid of?
How did you feel after?

I buy alot on instinct and excitement, and so I end up with statues I am not too excited with later on, so it becomes easier to sell. Or if the item goes above the value and I am willing to sell for that price. Lately it is because I got behind on a few bills, and a couple unexpected expenses came up.
It hurts at first to sell, but once I sell a few a few more are easier to sell, and then I got all this new space that I can fill in with new orders!

Over the years, overall, I'm sure I moved over 170 statues and busts, mostly Bowen and DC Direct stuff. It feels remarkably liberating whenever a piece I no longer want goes out the door. It feels even better when it goes for more than what I paid. Much of my hobby spending has pretty much been financed by my resales for years now.
I can't imagine owning everything I ever bought. I presently have about 225 pieces in my collection. If I kept everything, I'd be hovering around 400 pieces. That's crazy.

If a better interpretation of the character comes out , I will sell the one I have . I do not like having more than 1 of each character unless it is just an insanely bad ass piece . Then I make an exception.

+1
I've seen many collections posted on the forum where collectors have so many statues their collections look cluttered and over-crowded. So like you, I do sell some of my older pieces to get other pieces I'd rather have. I'm pairing down to a more respectable number of statues.
