But the original movie with Nicholson is a Stanley Kubrick rather than a Stephen King version.

The remake is certainly truer to the book but I prefer the Nicholson/ Kubrick version.

Maybe the two "Shining" movies have to be seen as two different stories, really.

But give me the long hallways with ghostly twins appearing anyday over moving animal hedges! Now that's creepy!

Star Wars: Episodes 4-6 S.E.; These are considered to be remakes b/c Lucas had to add scenes, stormtroopers, ewoks, and other b.s. that wasnt necessary. Plus he altered the song at the end of jedi. I had no idea a bunch of primative, gummi bears could play music better that what was originally planned. Also, what about the song in Jabba's Palace ->unnecessary. The original version were and still is WAY BETTER!

Agreed.

As much as I love the "Star Wars" trilogy, I think george Lucas needs to chill. His going back to edit and re-edit his films ("THX 1138" is another example) reminds me of one boss I had that went waaaaaay beyond 'flogging the dead horse' when it came to editing documents or PowerPoint presentation slides. She used to edit and re-edit already finished work at least 20 times, much to the frustration of everyone.

Enough already!

i have to disagree with all the negativity towrads POTA,time machine, and texas chainsaw massacre - i enjoyed all of these
POTA - its no where near what the original was but the whole timeline thign and how the alternate universe was created was a cool take on it
time machine - i thought this was also a cool remake b/c of timelines and how he created the future via his own time traveling
texas/massacre - a geat remake ( except for ms 7th heaven jessica biel - there are much better POA that coulda been in the movie)

how about remakes that are better then the original ? anybody ?
ill start off with the punisher - the tom jane one was 10x better then teh dolph version
