"Canceled" in title only as they incorporated Magneto's entire origin into First Class. Sounds more like an expansion of the original idea to me but it's two different ways of looking at the same thing I guess.

Agreed. XM:FC was just the evolution of the Magneto project after the "Origins" concept didn't fly as well as hoped with Wolverine.
Truth be told however the Magneto narrative was my favourite part of that film and I would have been just as happy, if not happier, with 2 hours of "Eric Lensherr: Nazi Hunter"
