really hope he gets the police involved, this sort of crap happens way too often and it's disgusting the way paypal just ignores the sellers who are so obviously being taken advantage of.

I'm really sorry that this happened to your friend. I always assumed that as an art collecting community we would stick together. I guess I was really wrong about that. Or maybe this buyer was never part of the art community and just saw an opportunity to rip someone off.

Despicable. I wonder if the endgame objective here is to acquire artwork to make high res canvas prints, t-shirts, and other merchandise. I doubt this artwork will ever see the light of day again, unless the FBI gets involved or something... Mail fraud like this, especially when it is cross border (Canada/US), can be quite complicated. I hope the seller gets his artwork or cash back, however, I imagine there may be lots of buck-passing here.
As odd as this might sound, I get an unusual amount of requests for high res scans of the paintings I own. Weird.
