Following up...for those that didn't know. I haven't read the bill or anything, but apparently, starting with sales on 1/1/22, all online sellers in the US will get a 1099 for sales totaling over $600. From what I understand that's from ebay, paypal, basically any online entity that processes the payments you receive. ...awesome. Craigslist here I come.

You will still get a 1099 from PayPal

Yeah, unless you do cash or friends and family. Paypal's been cracking down on F&F, though.

With this 1099 act, I think it is time for me to finally break down and join Facebook to participate in the buy/sell/trade groups.

If you trade or someone pays cash/F&F you might be alright. Otherwise, as far as I understand, you'll get a 1099 if you receive over $600. I'm not sure if there's any payment platform that this doesn't apply to.

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

So I should keep my original receipt and if I buy a statue for 1200 and sell it a few years later for 800 then I should get to write that off.

I saw someone post something about that...possible silver lining.

Yeah, I think I'm going to try to move everything I've been looking to move before the years ends. I'll probably go to Craigslist after that for the most part.

Should be interesting to see what effect this has on the collectibles market.

Thanks I am really interested in selling on eBay professionally. But I am worried about the customer guarantee of moneyback. What if they get the item, damage it and then claim for the guarantee as for the originally damanged thing?

That is a possibility but always get insurance and pack everything nicely.
