I was fortunate to add a Sal Buscema splash from an early/favorite issue/story arc. I have been on the hunt for a really nice splash for many years and this summer it happened. I lost this at the last second in 2012 (comic link auction) so I was lucky to get a second crack at it.

I find it so difficult to pick one in a year where I got some amazing pieces from the likes of Garcia-Lopez, Brad Walker, Neal Adams, Eddie Barrows, Jim Lee, ken Lashley, Jock, Sean Murphy and some others. If pressed, I would have to go with the stunning piece Lewis LaRosa did because it totally shattered my expectations

I can't remember when I actually purchased this with JG's help but it was not in hand until 2016 so I am counting this as my favorite purchase of the year. Can never go wrong with a Sal transformation page. Close behind was getting a Paul Pelletier Planet Hulk commission.

I looked through my 2016 CAF and I don't have one piece that really stands out to me as a personal favorite of the year.
I guess I wouldn't actually choose pencil or ink art- but rather color art this time around. I picked up a couple of complete issues of color guides from Valentino's GOTG series. Never had any of these so I was thrilled to get them. Here's a DPS from #19:
