DKR was part of a renaissance of sorts in the comic industry, and specifically for Batman who was being rendered irrelevant by pop-culture standards. Once the '66 show ended, it was two decades of obscurity and decent, but not ground-breaking storytelling. This story changed all that, re-surging the character and setting the stage for "Batmania" which started with the 1989 Burton flick and continued with Batman Retruns and the start of the animated series. And in a greater context, all of these things signaled the viability of comic book franchises in the movies.

There were peaks and valleys of course, notably the comic crash that happened in the mid-1990s, but you could make the argument that the mainstream success of comic franchises today is just the end of a long causal chain of events starting with DKR and a few other notable stories of the period (like Watchmen).

So as a fan of the medium and a fan of the character, this story is pretty sacred ground.

I couldn't have said it any better. This came out in a time before all the reboots/New 52 nonsense. This was a gritty Batman story that all the other gritty stories have to thank. If there was a Mt Rushmore of my favorite comic stories, this would be on it. Truly a masterpiece.

Deathstroke was 4-6 hours or so for the ex, but the others were not that fast
