Honestly, I like everything I'm seeing so far, and pretty much all people involved (Todd Phillips is the one I'm a little worried about) are very competent. Phoenix is pretty much the best actor in Hollywood right now and is very selective about what and with who he works with. So I'm feeling confident that this movie will turn out well.

i still dont understand the whole premise of this movie, whats the point in the end? joker in a world without batman?
its just about guaranteed to be better than leto joker, already is, so then what? we have to keep slumming it with the "damaged" poser thug?
if they abandon letos joker what happens with harley?
this takes place in the 80's, is the new reeves trilogy going to ride off of this or do its own thing too in its own timeline?

dc is such a frickin mess right now it pisses me off

I doubt Reeves will take too much (or anything) from this movie to add to his Batman trilogy and I don't think we will see Batman at all. And the reason for this is simple: Phoenix doesn't like acting in mainstream movies and he doesn't participate in movie franchises. I'm 99% sure he signed to make only this movie and we won't see him replaying this part in the future.

It's better to consider this movie as an alternate reality and separate from the DCEU. At least that's what I take from everything I saw so far.

There are a few videos on YouTube showing Phoenix in several scenes, including from the above screen caps. Gotta say I’m not really feeling his portrayal with what I’m seeing. Granted it’s early and the scenes are rough but it just doesn’t feel like the Joker to me. Not yet anyways.

I know most here weren’t fans of Leto’s look and to a lesser degree his portrayal but I remember being pretty excited after seeing him for the first time in action. At the very least he nailed the almost snake like, creepy, unpredictable nature of the character. Just not sold Phoenix or this film in general is going for that. I get it’s an origin story of sorts but I’m not sure I’m interested in a clown on the edge as opposed to the ‘Clown Prince of Crime.’

The trailer is eerie. It looks very promising. And well cast. Joaquin is an excellent fit for the Joker's descent into madness. Is DC finally going to get another great movie?
