What are some good gauges of wire for statuettes?

I want to order some wire online but not sure which gauges to get. What are the common sizes used for like a 1 foot full body sculpt?

For a 1/6 scale figure I would use 1/8 inch aluminum wire. You can pick it up at most hobby and art stores. You might get away with 3/16 inch for the legs and torso but 1/4 inch is way too thick. You can then use the 1/16 (?) inch aluminum wire you use to hang pictures with and wrap it around the heavier gauge wire to give your clay something to hold onto. This wire would also be good for the hands and fingers. You can generally find spools of that in longer quantities. I have used the thin bailing type steel wire, but find it springs back and doesn't hold its shape as reliably as aluminum for smaller pieces. I know this an old question but I am new here!
