I saw this one at the Boston con and I'm sorry to say it's not my cup of tea. For me, the head seems a bit large and the wings are metallic (rather than white feathers). I'm happy for those who got this piece and love it, though. This is just my opinion which is no more valid than anyone else's.

How does it compare to the surfer (in person)?

Have you ever imagined a world with no hypothetical situations?

I agree with ya. I don't see this piece being anything spectacular. I know ppl say you have to see this in person, and I have, and there's no difference IMO. I'll stick with my Bowen one for now.

This piece is based on the art of the late John Buscema. I think Hard Hero did a splendid job of capturing the combination of elegance and power Mr. Buscema's art is known for. I think the metallic look of the wings is appropriate for that style. Many artists, including John Buscema and Jack Kirby, rendered the helmet in a silvery, homogeneous fashion. From a practical standpoint, metallic "feathers" would hold up much better in battle than the real thing. I completely agree, however, that each collector needs to choose variations on their favorite characters that they like. I for one, never cared for the Bowen version of Thor, but really like his take on some other characters. I think Hard Hero is doing great things, but people should buy what makes them happy.

thats correct abut the helmet and feathers
how many vikings or what may had real feather attached to a helmet??
this is a correct rendering. i also agree i love how they arent doing their interpretation of characters but rather taking us back to the art and feel of the comics we all read and loved. my classic example still is the green goblin from both sideshow and bowen. thye are both nice scuplts but to me they are not norman osborn/green goblin!
i like seth and tohers that try to honor the craetors and keep the charater true to what we grew up with

I have seen both the Bowen and Hard Hero Thor FS up close. The Hard Hero blows the Bowen one out of the water but, that is just my opinion. Buy what makes you happy.
