I think with the super bendy legs they are trying to really push how dexterous he is with them.
This one is a swing and a miss for me. I feel far too experimental for a character they don't do often, from what I can tell. If I was a mega Beast fan and this is what I got I'd be extremely disappointed. Basically a standalone piece that you can't display with any other characters.

It is a cool concept overall and if this were the type of Beast I was looking for to go with my other 1/4 scale X-Men then I would grab it but unfortunately this is not the Beast I will get. I am still loyal to Sideshow and love almost all of their pieces but this Beast version makes more sense to address and honor the animated series X-Men and the post credit scene Beast from the Marvels but not the Beast that is being showcased in the Jim Lee Artwork to the right on the wall at the Sideshow Con showing the cover of the X-Men # 1. That is the Beast I want. Ferocious and Feral.
Again, this a cool concept and will look great when completely finished I'm sure and will good on shelves of many collectors. I think that for continuity with other X-Men pieces, it may not fit the best at this time. As a standalone piece with cool artwork and such, that would be sweet.
I think the fail here is NOT the piece nor is it even the concept of making a smart/studious Beast. I think the fail here is that Sideshow has been in business for quite a few years here and if I look at the timeline of Beast representation in "statue form" to date..........if I recall correctly, there was the feline faced Beast that was along side Emma Frost on the 1/6th scale maquette/diorama and then there was the feline faced Beast 1/5th scale comiquette that also showcased a 'smart/studious" Beast with books and such. (If I missed another, I apologize in advance)
So that brings us to 2024.
Here is/was an opportunity for Sideshow to really go in the "other" direction for a Beast and in their first 1/4 scale adaptation of that........they chose to go with yet again, the smart/studious Beast with a portrait of his more modern look but NOT ferocious or ready for battle. Although I feel that portrait is a step in the right/other direction....wearing glasses and looking contemplative just still is not enough.
Then the switch out portrait is once again....feline face.
So I think for me, THAT is where the fail is. Not the exposed seams, not the lack of lab coat, not the wirely looking legs, etc. but rather that at the end of the day and based on past pieces created and based on how much time has passed without an actual 1/4 scale Beast......., the missed opportunity is where the fail is.
Again, this is just my opinion.
Again, I am sure when the piece is completed and ready for shipping it will look fantastic.
But as Obi Wan once said in A New Hope.....
"This is not the Beast I am looking for."
LOL!!!

I thought this Beast looked amazing! Right up until the time I just saw those weird bendy legs. Its going to look weird on display too if you have it front facing. Maybe from the side its not so bad. But what a strange choice to make for the art direction.

For all you guys complaining about the seems, just how new to this are you? The protos are always made differently and often have seems the production wont. That should be the least of your worries.

The concept is still cool though. This would’ve been a fine 2nd Beast PF. But for their first they should’ve played it safer and went with a battle pose that blended in better with the other X-Men. You can still show Beast’s athleticism without literally bending him over backwards.
I’m reminded of this

This isn’t good. And they can fix it. Just fix the legs and it will be WAY better.
Also, there is dexterity and there is the actual mechanics of movement. Hank isn’t made of rubber. He is agile, not super bendy. When I look at the knees and hips, all I can think of is “how are all his ligaments not torn with those angles?”
Even in big blue furry form, I don’t recall Beast being super flexy. He was like a really smart gorilla in build. Am I wrong?
