I know what you are up against my last GF was terrified of horror movies, and as you can probably all tell based on my comments in this thread, I love them

ill never forget her reaction when we watched the Conjuring lol

many of the movies on the list I recommended to you, I watched with her, and she was OK with them, so they're tested and certified watchable for scaredy cats

What We Do in the Shadows (2014) - Viago, Deacon and Vladislav are vampires who are finding that modern life has them struggling with the mundane - like paying rent, keeping up with the chore wheel, trying to get into nightclubs and overcoming flatmate conflicts.

I'm immediately adding this to my top ten favorite vampire movies list. 9/10

Halloween horror fest movies #35-37!

John Carpenter's Apocalypse Trilogy

The Thing - its been so long since I saw this movie, and I dont think I really appreciated it fully back then because I didnt remember it all too well, but WOW, after watching it again let me tell you this movie lives up to the hype! Creepy, unsettling, atmospheric, all that wrapped around an amazing setting and soundtrack...and kurt russell really knocked it out of the park (I can see why John cast him in so many of his movies) I was going to give this movie a 9.5, but I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since I watched it, and I can only say that about a handful of movies, so im going with the full 10/10! I liked it so much I ordered the bluray today (only had it on dvd before)

has anyone seen the semi-recent prequel with the same name, if so is it worth a watch? the bluray I got includes the prequel too so im hoping its good

Prince of Darkness - you know what they say, they can't all be winners, the old adage rings true with this dud. The general idea was interesting, but it was executed in such a non-sensical way, nothing anybody did made any sense whatsoever it was all just very silly. It had a few good moments here and there, Donald Pleasance was great as always, it was fun seeing Alice Cooper, but it was just so full of plotholes I really couldn't get into it 6/10

In the Mouth of Madness - very messed up movie, which can be good or bad, in this case it was really good! Sam Neill did a great job, although the supporting cast seemed to be phoning it in for the most part, other than some questionable editting in a couple parts thats all I can take points off for really. The story was very unique and thought provoking, kind of a descent into madness, whats real, whats not real, what is reality at all, kind of stories. Definitely a movie that demands multiple rewatches, like the Shining or Mulholland Drive. The movie definitely had lots of trademarks of Carpenters style, the gore, the nightmarish and disturbing visuals, the darkness of it all, very entertaining movie I could not look away 9/10
