Unfortunately, in general this is actually fairly ‘cheap’ for a life size figure. As such anyone who thinks this is overpriced (me included) is not it’s target market.
If you want a ‘cheap’ life size figure at be prices people are stating, you might be able to grab one of the NECA life size FOAM figures.

When I first saw that photo I could’ve sworn that this was one of the 1/6 scale pieces that I’ve seen recently. Could they have simply blown up a pre-existing sculpt?

It is not just the scale for me. If this was a 1:1 of the upcoming Prime 1 1:3 Harley I'd fully understand the $5K price.
You are right though, I'm not the audience for this, and would be curious to meet someone who is from that audience.

Honestly I haven’t seen many life size statues that are of a quality that I would buy. Heck the only 1/2 scales that I have are the BVS Prime 1 pieces. Now they are quality pieces. But when I look at the life sizes (for a laugh), they rarely look nearly as good, and except for the odd Star Wars robot/armoured character most imo aren’t even worth having for significantly less.

There is indeed a 1/6 Designer Series statue of it. And before that, it was an even smaller Batman Black & White piece.
Some mod please merge this thread with this one, by the way.

Yes, it's not overpriced for a normal regular life size fig, but this isn't the quality or complexity of those either. I have a few myself and I don't see the price justified here.
