Turn 3d-model of a game into 3d print possible?

Hi all,

I really want to have a Starcraft 2 Nova statue.

Thing is I really don't have experience in sculpting myself.
And commission such work is beyond my wallet.

I got a high quality 3d model from the game.

Is it possible to convert them to a printable version?

Ive got;
1x .max
1x .mtl
1x .obj
10x .dds

Anyone ever tried it?
Any help would be very appreciated!!

regards Rquiem

Don't know much but hopefully can be of some help. I believe shape ways can use .obj files? Although I don't know if the same model can be used, one thing definitely is that it's probably not a hollow model (cause why?) so it'll likely be really expensive.

Well with some effort, I can adjust the model to make it hollow.

Thanks for the advice.

Was wondering if the details would stay preserved, any ideas?

I suppose that depends on the scale and printer. I wouldn't count on shapeways to do that, they seem to stick with the more simple stuff. You can hollow but make sure you don't make it too hollow, it has to be a certain thickness and I think it's based on the material. I think the best thing for you to do is get in contact with a printer or a couple and see what they need and do your best to provide that. I don't know any sorry
