Baking Sculpey in Phases Question

Hello all!

Haven't posted here in a while, I am doing a Jim Lee version of Joker 1/6 scale sculpt.

I am planning on baking the body.. and then adding the feet, hands and head with the heat gun.

What is the best way to get the new super sculpey firm to adhere to the now baked/hardened clay?

thank you!

If it's something that wraps completely around the hardened clay then I think that would be enough. If it's something that just covers part of the hardened clay then I have used a thin layer of Gorilla Glue, put the new Sculpey on, waited for it to set, then started sculpting and zapped it with the heat gun.

Aha!

So you're basically sculpting your piece separately and then pasting on?

My goal is to be able to sculpt on the hardened sculpey.. i.e; add buttons to coats and ties to jackets etc...

Thank you so much in advance for the reply!

Yeah, you can layer that stuff definitely. The problem with Gorilla Glue is that it expands so much. You have to keep an eye on it so it won't expand out of the edges. A little bit of that stuff goes a long way.

Is there any way to work the Sculpey pliable on the hardened statue.. and then apply the heat gun?

Again that is my goal.

Thank you!

I was arrested for selling illegal-sized paper.

Rub a little vaseline on the hardened sculpt. It will make fresh Sculpey adhere better.
