All that needs to be done ...and I hope SSC will include this step in their process next time they use this method for fishnet stockings ...is to fill the grove with a black filler (not sure what material to use). But by filling the grove with a black filler, then the grove looks more like a stocking seam.

I agree. The groove is sneaky, but definitely clever and preserves more of the contour than a bunched up fabric seam would, in theory at least.
In execution, the closest I've ever seen to near-seamless mixed media fishnets are on very small scale statues like the Iron Studios movie Harley, which has single seams running down the inner thighs and only gets away with it due to its straight-legged pose on a thin-legged actress.
Once you increase the size, the bends from either the musculature or pose require an inner and outer side seam--such as with PCS's 1:3 Chun Li--or one larger one down the back of the legs to prevent excess "webbing". The only way to flatten the latter is to increase the size of the "stripe" which also looks unflattering. The groove is potentially the cleanest solution, but Sideshow of all companies nailing it on the first try doesn't read like a scenario anyone would expect.
