Mosquito Coast was a great film actually, and I thought Ford gave one of his best performances in it personally. Witness, Clear & Present Danger, Patriot Games, The Fugitive, Frantic and Presumed Innocent are also all top notch films too in my eyes. I also quite liked K-19, Force 10 From Navarone, The Frisco Kid and Regarding Henry, and didn't mind What Lies Beneath, Air Force One and The Devil's Own either. He also had strong early supporting roles in The Conversation, American Grafitti and Apocalypse Now. And of course the Indy movies, the Star Wars movies are Blade Runner are all absolute classics in my opinion.
Sure, he's had some stinkers too, as would anyone who's been around as long as he has, but he's more than earnt his career in my books.
And there are very few actors who have been responsible for breathing life into not one, but two worldwide famous and truly iconic characters, like Han Solo and Indiana Jones are. Stallone did it with Rocky and Rambo, Eastwood did it with his "man with no name" and Dirty Harry Callahan, Schwarzenegger did it with The Terminator and Conan, and there's a handful of others, but at the end of the day the list of actors who have created characters that
everyone knows the name of, regardless of if they've even seen the films or not is pretty damn slim really. Gotta give the man credit for that, because if it wasn't for his performances those characters wouldn't be as iconic as they have become. It takes a certain magic to make a character so popular and so iconic that it becomes a part of popular worldwide culture.
I do think he needs to fire his agent, or whoever suggested him do a lot of his most recent films like Hollywood Homicide, Six Days Seven Nights, Random Hearts and Firewall though, he's had a bad run lately, but I'm really hoping Indy will be a return to form and he'll actually start picking stronger roles and films from here on out, like he used to do.
So yeah, I don't agree with you at all on this one buddy.
