These are cheap, i use them too.
But on larger surface area (mostly round anyway), I think it is hard to make a thin straight line. It grind very fast, but prob will good if you go for real/larger adjustments

Probably can use/make a hand operated wire cutter also with (longer) wire like that.
For example, I also have very strong (yarn like) thread (used to strengthen fire hoses but there is also multiple yarn called steel-thread). When you take part of this and knot wooden stick to both ends you have easy cutter which can reach in tight space also.
Only the steel rod in arms and legs have to be cut afterwards with something better than those disk or wire, i guess..
