They are optional in the sense that you get to choose whether you want a base with them or without them, but they're not removable.

Next time I have Thor up and displayed, I'll be working on a cloth cape for him. The sculpted one is just too damn heavy for where he goes.

Unless they changed their MO, these DC capes look to be just as heavy if not more so.

these bases are totally out of control.

When i look at a base like this it's almost like a bad dream, where things keep going and gong and going and new things get discovered. It's horrible, we don't need to see all of Batman's foes on the base of a statue. LBS has officially gotten lost in the rabbit hole of storytelling bases, and things will never be the same!

but look at that storytelling base OH MY GOD! it's horrible. If they would've just stopped the base right where the cave portion ends, it would be fantastic. But they just can't do it. They want to cram it all in, at the detriment of the statue. I just hope the top part of the base is removable like Hulk's base, if it's not they should make it removable.

I agree. Not sure how stable Bats would be in such a flat base, though. (Not enough room for some sturdy rods?}

the texture of the batcave, the suit and the cape and the tough looking short eared cowl really works exceptionally well.

Looks like the cave potion of the base is detachable from the lower portion if you chose. Looks like 2 separate pieces. Similar to Hulk I think 🤔
